Day 29 ~ Thinking Of You

Good morning everyone. Hope your day is going well so far. I'm off to a good start. I made this card just after Melody left for school and Aizen was a still asleep (which he isn't now hehe, he just woke up). I had the little heart paper image and thought it would look really cute on this card.

Have a great day everyone!!

Day 28 ~ Picture Taking With Toddler Help

Aizen has been super clingy today, he has an owie. I plopped him in the sling and he snuggled into me while I made this card. He Never does that, he usually wants to play with my supplies.

When I got the camera out to take the pictures, he was all over that and wanted to "help", so sorry about the wonky pictures, but I thought they were cute cause he helped me press the button to take them. =D I love that kid!!!!!

Dee's Thursday Tips ~ My Scrap Paper Bin

I thought I would start something new for Thursdays. I'm going to be doing Dee's Thursday Tips. These will be tips I have found useful as I'm learning cardmaking. Some of it you may already know but I'm going to share them anyway. ;P

So, today I will be sharing what I am doing right now. I'm reorganizing my scrap paper bin. Anyone who scrapbooks or makes cards will have a plentiful stash of leftover scrap pieces. My current system is totally not working. So, time to revamp!!

I have 3 bins that are 12x12 and organized in these categories:

1. solid cardstock
2. large cardstock pieces
3. small cardstock pieces

This is an example of what my bin looks like. Look at all those papers, and I'll tell you when I'm looking for a smaller piece of paper, it sure is time consuming to look through all those papers to find what I need.

So.... here is what I have done:

I had a bunch of 8.5" x 11" file folders that I was going to use for Aizen's lap games and games to make for him. Since he is still destructive, I'll buy more file folders in the summer and get some of those made. I bought these in a box of 100 at staples.

Here I have measured them out to cut at 8 inches. That cuts off the main flappy part at the top and makes it almost a perfect rectangle. On one side there is a tiny little notch still there, but it will get covered up, so no worries.

Next, I cut out a bunch of 8" x 2" pieces of light cardstock. By light cardstock I mean it's Very flexible, not as thick as regular cardstock and thicker than paper. The kind I get is from walmart and I use it to make my envelopes.

Next, I scored it down the middle at the 1" mark, folded over and defined the crease with my bone folder. The piece on the left shows the piece cut out (I did a lot at one time, I like that system of doing one part of a project at a time when mass producing something), and then the pieces on the right show them all nicely folded.

Next I used my tape runner and put it on both sides. Then attached one to each side so that the scrap paper will not fall out. In this picture the left side is not done, and the right it. I could have made it prettier with designer paper but I've got A LOT of these to make so white it was.

Here is one of my favourite papers to use. As you can see, there are lots of different sizes and now when I go to look for a piece they will all be together.

I then cut a piece of that paper at 4.5" x 2" and this will go onto the front of the file folder.

Here is that little label on the front of the file folder. I made it big like this so that when I am flipping through them, I can easily see what paper it is that I want.

Here is a look of what the papers look like inside the little folder. Now when I want to use a specific paper, I just need to take the folder out and dump the contents onto the table to see what size I will use.

And last, here are the ones I did last night and partly this morning. It's in a little portable file folder carrier. It will eventually go into either a filing cabinet or a small shelf thing that will be under the table whenever I get my craft nook finished.

Thanks for looking. I hope this may help you with your scrap paper problem. Dee =)

Day 27 ~ Blooming Friendship

I really like these flowers. I use them quite a bit (as you can see in previous posts). The lettering along the side is from a sticker set in my collection.

Day 26

Was going through my baby stickers again and made this cute little baby boy card. I think I might focus on those this week and have a blast making lots of cute baby cards. hehe

Isn't she adorable?? I love this stamp set and plan on making more with this little baby girl. She had a yummy lunch of squash, that used to be Melody's favourite and is still one her favourite vegetables. /giggle

2. You pick one of the 5 sentiments and the cards are all the same sentiment.

Day 23

I had so much fun making these cards. Got to try a new technique with water colouring and love that the flower image can be messy but still pretty, with the water colour you don't need to stay in the lines.

I'll be selling these cards if you like them. They are 3"x3" and come with a coordinating envelope. The colour of circle paper behind the flower may change slighty if I run out of that particular paper.

Day 22 ~ Glitter Happy Mama!!!

I went a little glitter happy today. /embarassed smile This was such a fun card to make. I put the not so great picture with it b/c I don't know how to take a good picture with glitter.... shauna.... help!!!! So, here is my card in all her glitter glory. =p

Day 21 ~ ThankYou, Arigato, Merci... How Do You Say Thank You?

I like this stamp set a lot. It comes in 3 pieces. First is the circle with all the different ways to say thank you, 2nd is the little arrow, and 3rd is the one that says "all kinds of thanks"

I noticed I have a preference for making very bright and girly coloured cards, so thought I would pull out some more masculine colours and give it a go. hehe

So, here are my cards from today.

Day 20 ~ More Bookmarks

I made a few more bookmarks yesterday and learned that if you use a really heavy cardstock, it doesn't look so good on the creases. So, back to using the lighter cardstock. This is one of my favourite stamps.

Day 19 ~ More Free Hugs

I got a new stamp that comes with 2 images. It's a cute free hug coupon, do you like it Hirawyn, I know how much you liked the kitty hugs card? It comes out of the little pouch, how kawaii is that??

Here is a close up of the coupon and redeemable stamp in the inside of the card!!

Day 18 ~ Monica's Valentine's

The flash didn't go off on this one and I'm off to get Melody from the bus stop (so I'm in a hurry to post this b/c it's her computer time when she gets home) but they look just as great as Heather and Amanda's orders.

Here is Monica's order. I hope the kids really like them. I ran out of blue ink of your sons and had to finish the backs of 3 or 4 in pink, but it doesn't look girlie. I can't wait to mail these out!!!! (((hugs))) DeeDee =)

Day 18 ~ More Orders =)

Been busy yesterday and today with some orders. I finished up Monica's order tonight so I will post that tomorrow.

Here are yours Heather:

And here are yours Amanda:

Good night m'darlins, it's late and I need to get some sleep. =)

Day 17 ~ Bookmark I Thought Was Cool

Today's card is a bookmark. I saw this on a blog somewhere, but my favourites got wiped and I can't find it, so if I ever do, I'll make a post about it.

I handstamped the daisy on the dark blue paper and the little bee is a $1.50 stamp I got at Michael's last night, I couldn't resist even though I'm not supposed to have a craft budget. I ran out of rubber stamp ink and got absorbed into the $1.50 stamp display. /looks innocent
Thank you honey.

The example is from my favourite chapter/event in Breaking Day. I'm a huge Twilight fan and this is in my top 10 favourite events of the 4 books. Sorry Amanda, just imagine it's the Clock Tower scene and you won't mind looking at the other picture. /giggle

Day 16 ~ Was Also An Order

I had a super busy day and didn't get to crafting until nighttime while watching some tv. So, my card for yesterday was also an order for another mama on my mama forums, these are for her son and I think they look really cute.

Day 15 ~ Elegant Baby

Again today I went into my baby stash and found this baby vellum overlay and added it to this card. I used my martha stewart ribbon punch to make the ribbon holes and added a pretty white ribbon to the card. I think it's pretty and elegant. =D

Day 14 ~ Thank You!! With Flowers

This was the card I erased off the camera thinking I had it on the computer. I had fun with this one and I'm learning how to use different lettering that isn't mine.

I really like these flowers. They come in little pieces and you assemble them however you like. I put them on popups and Had fun adding a ribbon to it. The blue paper with the flowers was handstamped using one of my favourite daisy stamps.

Day 13

I got a bit busy, ran out of batteries for the camera and accidently erased Day 14 when I thought it was on the computer (at nighttime none the less so I couldn't retake the photo til this morning lol) So, here are a bunch of updates.

I've had these baby stickers for awhile and I adore the little sheep. So, I put the stickers on white cardstock and they look so cute!!

Day 12 ~ You're The Best

Got the white jelly pen out again today and oh do I like this card. Very simple yet pretty. The picture doesn't do it justice with how bright the colours pop. Anyone else have troubles photographing purple? It just doesn't come out the right way. /shrug ... oh well, you get the idea.

Day 11 ~ Not So Fond Of The Eyelets Today

I learned a lot while making this card. I figured out I don't like doing eyelets in a layer that small and ribbon is a bit difficult to work with when you're not making it into a knot. I still like my card and had fun learning new things while doing this card. This one is also a 5"x5" card. Happy crafting peeps!!

Katelyn's Valentines!!!! ~ sneak peek

Hey Shauna!! I finished your order last night and here is a sneak peek of Katelyn's cards. I can't wait til they get to your place. I had a lot of fun making them. Enjoy =)

Day 10 ~ Make A Wish

This was a fun card to make with one of my favourite paper packs. I really adore the white paper with little pink flowers. I tried something different yesterday and made a 5"x5" card and I think it turned out really cute.

Card 9 ~ I Miss The Grass In Our Yard!!!!

I was looking out into the yard today that is covered in snow and was really missing the grass. So, I made a cute card that has grass on it. =D I can't wait for spring to get here and the snow to go bye bye!!

Day 8 ~ cute bow =)

I just adore the little bow on this card. Wow, it's been 2 days of cards since I have used my white jelly pen, I'm shocked with myself.... hmmm I need to use it now. lol

Day 7

I went on a little bit of a binge last night. I made the fluffy cat card first and liked it so much that I needed to make more like it. So.... I made 4 cards, aren't they adorable??
